No. 1 Smithery: National Treasures Inspiring Culture is an exciting and inspiring new museum experience, cultural venue and centre for world-class maritime collections at the heart of The Historic Dockyard Chatham.

A unique partnership between Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust and two national museums - the National Maritime Museum and the Imperial War Museum, No.1 Smithery: National Treasures Inspiring Culture is an exciting mix of museum, heritage and culture.

The opening of No. 1 Smithery brings a programme of exciting events and activities guaranteed to appeal to a wide range of interests and ages looking for a fun, interesting and worthwhile day out to add to the great day out a visit to The Historic Dockyard already provides. The touring exhibition gallery opens with the evocative collection of Stanley Spencer’s Shipbuilding on the Clyde paintings entitled Resonance and Renewal these will be on show until December 2010.
