Last year’s new ‘Myths & Monsters’ half term holiday activities at The Historic Dockyard Chatham were so popular that they will be running again this year from 22 until 31 October.
At this time of year when thoughts of witches and ghosts are all around, the friendly witch Megan has stories of mythical creatures from the deep blue oceans which will enchant, rather than scare, the younger ones. Children will learn about ghost ships, superstitions linked to the sea and the monsters and mermaids that either frightened or tempted the sailors of long ago. This will be accompanied by craft fun every day from 11.30am to 3.30pm
For a small additional charge, Mini Junior Ghost Walks, suitable for children aged 8 and over, will run every day at 4pm, lasting 30-40 minutes. Plus a new activity for this year – A Mask Making Workshop where children of all ages will be able to create an impressive mask of their own to take home with them. For the older children, inspired by the V&A’s Street Art Exhibition showing in No.1 Smithery: The Gallery from 13 October until 27 November, Street Art Workshops will be available from 24th – 28th October at 11am and 2pm. Here, the children will be able to design and create their own “tag” in the courtyard then have the chance to reproduce it on a full size wall – a small charge applies to this too.
All tickets to The Historic Dockyard are valid for 12 months so return visits can be made throughout the year offering excellent value for money and no end of fun!
