Don’t miss one of the largest Chinese New Year celebrations in Britain - Welcome in the Year of the Dragon

Saturday, 21 January

Festivities will take place in Chatham High Street, near Waterfront Way, from 11.30am to 2.30pm. The area will be a feast for the senses, with dancers in colourful Chinese costumes, stalls selling food, Chinese gifts and New Year calendars, and entertainment including a children’s roundabout.

Sunday, 22 January

Continue the celebrations with the magnificent Medway Chinese New Year Parade. Starting at 12noon in Military Road, the event will feature Chinese dragons, lion and unicorn dancers and more than 150 people in Chinese costume. Rounding off the Sunday at The Central Theatre, Chatham - 2.30pm

The annual show from the Medway dragon and lion dance team features dragon and lion dancing, martial arts displays, Chinese pop music, traditional musicians and special guests from Foshan in China. Tickets are £8, concessions £6.
